If you are a citizen of Australia, you may eligible to earn Childcare Rebate. The Australian government is determined to ensure that all families have access to affordable, high-quality child care. There are many government programs and subsidies available, but the Childcare Subsidy provides the most basic support for families.
This grant is a unique government grant that provides financial assistance to parents to help with the cost of childcare. Your family’s eligibility and other circumstances will determine the level of support you receive.
The application process for child care benefits is not difficult, even though it may seem complicated. Once you are confirmed eligible, the subsidy is paid directly to your child-care provider. They will then reduce your fees.
The government will pay a portion of the child’s care costs, while you must pay the rest. The amount of funding that the government will provide will depend on your income and your child’s care hours.
If you or your partner meet the following requirements, you may be eligible.
- You can either care for your child for at least two nights per week or you can have 14% of their care.
- You are responsible for paying fees for child care services approved by the Department of Children and Families
- Meet the residency requirements.
These are the requirements that your child must meet:
- Immunization requirements
- You should not attend secondary school unless you are exempt.
You may still be eligible for supervision if your child is in secondary school. They must be either:
- 13 and under
- 14-18 years old with disability.
You must show proof that your child cannot be left unsupervised in these situations. This could include documentation of your child’s disability. This will also require you to prove that an adult cannot care for your child at this time.
Every person who is liable for child care fees must apply for the subsidy and meet the criteria.
