FYI, Eligible Pennsylvanians over 65 years old, widows and widowers over 50 years old, and persons with disabilities aged 18 to 64 are eligible for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate program. For homeowners, the income limit is $35,000 per year and for renters it’s $15,000 per year. Half of Social Security income may be excluded from claimants.
Federal Civil Service Retirement System beneficiaries may be exempted from 50% of their average annual Social Security benefits amount. Veterans with federal veterans’ disability payment or state veterans payments can also be exempted 100%. A $650 maximum rebate, but homeowners who are eligible for supplemental rebates can increase their rebates up to $975.
